Nice idea but you need to work on your shadows, using the layer set shadow is not as good as creating a layered shadow. Some good tuts here at PSC with shadows. Still nice idea and I thought this would be a popular theme

Agrre with Blue, also dog looks too cut-out, try feathering edges as well to make subjuct blend in better on backgrd, lovely idea tho
