Yes, this works for me.

I do believe the light the bull soul is heading toward would be more intense than the sunlight, if the sun affects it at all. As souls never ascend into the sky in real life, we can't know for sure.

Cool idea! I think it was necessary to have same light source on barn and bull. It's enough easy to change the light & shadows on the barn. The bull needs contrast, some white parts around edges really pure white and a little more contrast on shadows.

You know what would have been really cool, is if you had the cow freshly slaughtered and the cow spirit right above it.

Great minds think alike Shane ;) That was my first image search, but the only dead cows that actually looked dead, made me sad :( I'm not here to make people sad ;)

lol, Shane. I'm applying my lessons learned from the Eye of Sauron training video :) I'm making sandwiches all day here, haha

I guess since you've invited critique, I'll give it a go. 1 (v. minor) would be that it still looks like concrete cow to me. Easily fixed though. 2 There's quite a lighting mismatch as far as I see. The cow is lit by hard light from the left.
bigbuck
....and even though you've added your own light source to suit, it does not match the lighting on the barn which is clearly central and behind the photographer. Anyway my 2c worth.

One of the few times Marco made sense, but MAN his vision was so different from mine. Still I improved it... photoshopcontest.com...

Thanks big buck. I'll see what I can do to remove that concrete texture without blurring it too much. I wanted the heavenly light to really only affect the soul. The ambient lighting shouldn't affect it, IMO ;)
cringer8
Thanks Marco via Eve ;) I'll cut down on the opacity. Once I take care of the concrete issue, that should be easier to do without having it look weird :)

I think the idea is good, but the image has no impact on me. It doesn't pleases my eyes, not sure how else to describe it.
cringer8
lol, kinetic, that's okay, but i don't what to do with that ;) What do you like? Maybe I can add it in there :D
cringer8
Updated: Removed concrete texture and increased the opacity. Any better?
kinetic_be
I have no idea :-) It's just a visual thing.
cringer8
It could be the compostion. The image lacks good balance; focal point is off-center and too small. I'll try cropping it to a vertical image...

Eve
Oh, I thought you wanted it to look like the clouds. Your lighting is wrong. The light's coming from behind the viewer so the bull's side should be light.
cringer8
Eve, I gave that a shot, but it kind of washed out the subtle details that let you know it's a bull. This statue didn't really have a lot of depth or detail to work with :/ Maybe I need more practice adding light...
cringer8
lol gramps, it's back there. In the source, there's only a teensie little bit of it showing and my additional light has blended it right in :) You can still the hoof, though.
cringer8
Thanks Claf. I know what you mean. Since Eve suggested the same thing I tried some things, but my methods could not achieve the unity in light I wanted. I think Zoeon is right; I should have used a different background :/

Also we don't feel yellow angel ring enough luminous... but not easy to do, something around lighter yellow and maybe very soft a little larger glow around...
