Patre - Deer often get struck by vehicles because they don't move when blinded by headlights. That's all I can say at this time.

Stupidly, I did not realize that deer-car collisions are quite regional. It happens so often here we have a saying when someone has a blank stare we say 'he looks like a deer in the headlights.'
