...then though, there seems to be a shadow of what looks like railings, but they are being cast in the exact opposite direction to the other shadows??? This puzzles me quite a bit, rest of the work and idea though is great Doug.

Mark, the 'railing' is actually an open latticework roof supported by this pillar. 'Course, only I know that 'cause I was there (Grand Cayman). Sometimes something is correct, but looks wrong anyway! I had to fake a photo on a book cover because the .

... heron was too white and looked cut out. As to the other shadows, looking at the fence post and eave over the door, the sun is slightly more vertical than the shadow on the brim and the knees. But those shadows add definition, I think.

ahhhh I see it now, it looks like the pillar is quite a way behind the sombrero guy, so it looks like it is coming from the other way to meet his shadow. Thanks for the explanation,, good stuff
