do you mean the truck, or the ground next to the truck, if its the latter, the lighting is coming from the street light above, with shadow and reflection being cast in the between section of truck and lit ground.
blue_lurker
Yeah I see what you mean but it looks like the light has passed the truck almost under it at the rear...or the light has passed the truck on the side.
blue_lurker
The way I see it is the rain size is the same in front of the truck as is the rear of th etruck, so has the light passed the truck...if ya know what I mean?
marcoballistic
it has passed it at the rear, in the gap between first and second truck... hmmmm the way I saw it, the street light is about equal to the rear of the first truck, maybe you are seeing it differently?

I wanted heavy rain, and there are infact 5 layers of rain at varying sizes to give depth... unfortunately, the intensity and reliance on the lit parts to show the rain may infact be giving you the feel you are getting...

...not easy to pull all the aspects together in this idea, especially after having to eliminate so much of the original to convert it. I can easily say overall, the hardest day to night I have attempted. Mainly because of the bright sunlit scene...

blue_lurker
yeah I seem to see a lot of things differently mate. No problem it still is a good effect with the rain

... with harsh shadows, highlights and a great deal of white reflected light. But it was a good challenge, and learned quite a bit from certain aspects.

You have a great eye Andrew, I apprieciate your feedback, without it nobody would learn, & people would stop caring. Some may not think your advice is sound & welcomed, but I sure do, & a hell of alot of others do too, no doubt. Keep being you bro. Cheers

the headlights I chose to do that way as the refraction of light through the rain, not to everyones taste I am sure, all comments welcomed on that or anything else
Sjitske
Yup ya right it's is more a personal taste thing than it has to do with technique cuz that's all good ;)

the light on the right side looks like its B/W and the rest in color. not a bad thing, "was it intentional"?
marcoballistic
I think it was intentional in as far as after finalising the look the road surface drew no reflective colours at that angle, maybe should have a flash of green on top edge. Cheers Stew

thanks for explaining, sometime I wonder why people do things the way they do. it's nice to be able to ask "why" or "what were you thinking" instead of just voting and moving on.
