Top edge looks a little jaggedy too...

I cleaned up the top edge and removed the letters on the camera. I wasn't worried about proper reflections as much as I was trying to make a photorealistic illustration. Not "real" in as in a photo.

But "real" as in the famous diner paintings that I've always loved. You know it is a painting but it is technically beautiful. At least that is what I was trying to do.

To me, that is, the man is over-disorted, or too big, or maybe just too intact.. that confuses me. In terms of photo-realism the logo is too sharp and the shadow, or black hole next to the round part (where it says clockwork) is too intense..

...If that is a reflection. The golden bolt in the middle looks flat It should be chromed right? I don't think that there are shadow's on a chromed surface. The work here is very respectable and the effort must have been imense. There are many good...

points to this image like the screws, the chrome, except the guy as I mentioned earlier. But my main problems with this are the golden bolt..that's the main problem...and some minor ones like the reflection of the man and some shadows.Still worth a vote ;)

I thought the gold thingy was probably made of a flat brass. That is why it looks like that. As for the bolt part, I thought it might me some copper brass mix. I was not sure.

Notice the green mold or stain on the knob in the original?? To me, that means it was brass, and it did not look like it was shiny, so I went with the flat matte look.

ReyRey
Clockwork????? You did not look that close....did you? hahahaha
|
|
|
ReyRey
What black hole???? I don't see what you mean...There are no shadows on this chrome, only reflections of the underside of things. Are you sure it isn't you're monitor??

As for the distortion, I judged it from what I could see of reflection on the original. I don't think it was too bad. I value you're opinion but I'm not sure you are seeing it right or I just don't understand what you are seeing.? But thanks. Really

Claf
RR, I think if you look at the original, the shape of that lock makes the reflection stretched horizontally, not vertically. That reflection can be a little more blurred, and maybe the shades can be more melted with the metal color.
|
|
|
Claf
Maybe we feel too much the reflection like if it was a mirror. Also the highlight on the top of the lock looks like if the camera's flash was on. Maybe it's not what you tried to do... ? :)
