The other is not all that bad, but the phoenix just has the "it" factor in this contest. I will say, the sparkly dust coming off of it, would be MUCH better if it were softer instead of harsh single pixels with no blended edges.

I like the color and color blending but the mountains and waterfalls are too realistic for the bird. The other entry has nice theme but looks empty. clouds too flat same with the tree trunk. The grass are repetitive. Could have used better externals for these. Use of source so minimal.

I think this is the clear winner here. I thought I was bound to see a pheonix and this doesn't disappoint, lots of detail here! I like the tree in the other one (all source tree?) but the hula girl and the grass dont fit in well with it. I would have preferred like a tree in a 'snow globe' of Hawaii (just without the snow)
